清末年间，南浔“八牛”之一的丝商洪福齐儿女绕膝，因元配早年病故，幸喜娶得一房经营船菜馆的姨太太温柔贤慧，门前“洪福齐天”金匾高悬。但一家和和美美的表相却也暗藏危机，由姨太太带来的遗腹子洪文禄并非亲生，福齐对他自然另眼相待，文禄心理自卑且刻毒，总想着有一天能够以紫夺红，为此而暗设陷阱。。Architect Peter Ibbetson is hired by the Duke of Towers to design a building for him. Ibbetson discovers that the Duchess of Towers, Mary, is his now-grown childhood sweetheart. Their love revives, but Peter is sentenced to life in prison for an accidental killing. Mary comes to him in dreams and they are able to live out their romance in a dream world.。
