由鬼才倪匡編劇，將《西遊記》中紅孩兒大戰孫悟空的情節活現銀幕。導演張徹處理文學巨著的手法相當老練，既保留了原著神髓，亦細緻安排各武打場面。故事講述牛魔王與鐵扇公主夫婦為吃唐僧肉，命兒子紅孩兒（丁華寵）對付孫悟空（劉中群）師徒。紅孩兒憑「三昧真火」屢挫悟空，後幸得觀音命龍女（張傳麗）協助悟空救回唐僧等人，更將紅孩兒點化，收其為觀音身邊的善才童子。此片弘揚回頭是岸的大道理，發人深省。。宁静的夜晚，破旧顽皮的小卡车Mater（Larry The Cable Guy 音）到处游走，以吓唬其他汽车为乐，严肃的警长（Michael Wallis 音）向他讲述了一个闪着蓝光四处漂浮的鬼火的传说。起初不以为然的Mater听到最后吓得全身发抖。警长讲完故事，所有的车辆四散离开。沉浸在恐惧之中的Mater战战兢兢回到家里，却发现自己成为鬼火的跟踪对象，吓得他在深夜的公路上狂奔不止……。Set in Prague in 1953, this suspenseful crime drama follows honest police captain Hakl (Trojan) and his investigation of a seemingly mundane robbery at a goldsmith’s shop.
