因经营不善，木棉问屋老板古泽新兵卫（志賀廼家弁慶 饰）破产，连老婆的嫁妆也赔个精光。古泽厌烦了女人的聒噪，起身逃到当初被他资助的艺妓梅吉（梅村蓉子 饰）处暂住。碍于情分，梅吉开心地收留了古泽，但却引来梅吉的妹妹“小玩意”（ 山田五十铃 饰）的不满。
不同于自小长在祇园的梅吉，女子学校毕业的“小玩意”泼辣自我，她不相信男人所谓的甜言蜜语。为了避免生活陷入困境，她开始计划为姐姐寻找新的资助人……
