1937年，多灾多难的中华民族遭遇了影响深远的历史事件。日本帝国主义早已将爪牙伸向中原，狼子野心的侵略者赤裸裸露出贪婪嘴脸，所欠仅是一个赖以开战的借口。古都北平，日本华北驻屯军横行霸道，却碍于国民党29军的热血将士誓死挡在面前，不敢轻举妄动。而另一方面，蒋介石集中精力对付中共，对日本侵略者一味采取退让政策，迫使宋哲元的29军忍气吞声让出丰台。北平进步学生在中共的授意下，积极团结29军，支持宋哲元抗日。
