Renowned oneirologist, Ambrose London, is requested to Arkham Asylum to study the strange case of split personality in patient James Fhelleps/Joe Slater.。本剧描述了现代都市一白领典型（某网络公司CEO）边雅，因母亲丢失爱犬（可乐）后，在帮助母亲寻找爱犬的过程之中，所引发的个人和家庭情感以及社会责任感等一系列的问题。
在寻找爱犬的过程中，边雅发现，因忙于自己的事业，忽略了退休一个人在家的母亲的情感需求，边雅原以为能通过帮助母亲找到爱犬就能解决母亲问题，也因此母亲不会影响到自己的事业。但是在找犬的过程之中才发现，母亲所需要的不仅仅是她的爱犬，而是需要人与人之间的亲情关怀。
