建筑公司总经理李明浩因老同学项志华恳求，将母亲手术费借予对方周转，约定一月归还。期满后项志华失联抵赖，导致李母手术延误。李明浩多次催讨无果，发现项志华夫妇生活奢靡却恶意拖欠多笔债务。。When he learns his days are numbered old count Hervé de Kéraudren decides to hide in a secret alcove and to die there, just to annoy his heirs. As a result of his body not being found the latter will have to wait for five years until they can inherit the count's money.
